Notepad++

Notepad is an indispensable tool for many of us. If you need to make quick online notes, copy & paste a few paragraphs of text, or use it as a quick ‘n’ dirty way to remove hidden formatting, it’s great. If, however, you use it for doing any kind of programming or coding, it leaves a lot to be desired. Yes, it’s small, compact, and portable, but it’s also lacking pretty much every feature that a coder needs. On the other hand, many programs that do have the features that make coding so much easier are often large, unwieldy, complicated, or prohibitively expensive.

Wouldn’t it be great to have something as simple as Notepad, but that also had the few extra features to make coding so much more painless? Guess what? It exists! It’s called Notepad++.

Notepad++ is a free source code editor and Notepad replacement that supports several languages. It has all the power with none of the clutter and is a must-have for those of us hardcore enough to do manual coding. Oh, and it also works just as well as Notepad for all the other things that you’d want to use it for.

Notepad++ comes in both regular and portable versions.
